The "flat buns" spot is inappropriate for a "family" fast food chain. People may be talking about it, but we sure aren't going to be purchasing. Some may say "any press is better than no press at all", but I beg to differ. This one is truly crass. Maybe Carls Jr needs a new ad agency - one that doesn't hire adolescent boys to approve ads.

stupid commercials such as Carl's Jr. doesn't make me want to eat there. In fact as soon as I saw Paris Hilton washing a car while eating a hamburger I swore I would never eat there. In fact the teacher dancing infront of her class offends me. I am a teacher and under all the recent issues with Female teachers and their male students... I do not think this is an appropriate commercial at all... this only reafirms that I never want to eat at Carl's Jr.

While I agree with Ms. Linn that sex cannot sell everything (despite the many many failed attempts by various companies), I do have to disagree on the evaluation of the Diary Queen commercials. I'm not that familiar with the ad series as a whole, but I am a big fan of the one featuring the visit to the fertility clinic. "No, you're not lactose intolerant." Good stuff.
I also have yet to meet anyone who gave anything but two thumbs way down to the wigged Wendy's ad series. But hey, not every fast food chain can create comic genius like Sonic.
My personal new favorite ad series is the set of NFL.com fantasy football commercials running in the last couple of weeks. Top prize seems to be a dead heat between the "knowing your players" ad with John Lynch and the "there's no excuse for absence" draft day commercial.
Lastly, I wouldn't mind hearing a professional's opinion on this rash of dumb husband commercials. Granted, I'm sure we can all picture at least one male relative that has had trouble programming the VCR or some other seemingly menial task (sorry, Dad), but I was under the impression that it is no longer acceptable to outright degrade any person simply based on gender. I for one think it's a wonderful thing that women and minority groups are no longer stereotyped in advertising (ok, let's be honest...as heavily stereotyped), so why is it now acceptable to do so to the caucasian male? Perhaps this is the one insulting angle that advertisers can get away with and not have to deal with large organizations that represent the offended. Regardless, this joke has gotten old quickly.

Hardees also claims that their meet is 100% angus which is also a lie but, there are people out there that are going to buy in to that. People need to know the truth that if you have a small portion of angus...just enough to pass the boards approval you can call it 100% angus which is a complete farce. The sad thing is that the other cattle boards don't have as much money as they angus board to take it to court and fight false advertising...I think this topic is much more important than who you have in commercials or what they are about. Carl's has a history of crass and degrading ads. This is just one more, except I sense an undercurrent of violence here. So many of these ads have fallen to new lows! My kids and I were horrified by the Burger King/McDonald's ad. Why would anyone beat up Ronald? Then again, my son is afraid of "The King" anyway. How creepy would it be to wake up with a giant plastic headed King in bed next to you?!
I don't eat at Hardee's/Carls Jr ever since they sexed up their ads. I was offended by the milkshake one where the man is shaking and spanking a cow, and it just got worse from there. Granted, the Paris Hilton one was on late at night (usually), but I still had the misfortune to catch the first part of it. And only Carls could sex up a taco salad!
One would think that Carls Jr would realize that it's highly inappropriate to have the sexy teacher ad in light of recent new reports. Would they have done that same ad with a male teacher and teenage girls?
It's very obvious between the obscene commercials as well as the obscene size of their burgers that Carls Jr is targeting young men for customers. Fine by me. I'll stick to Wendy's myself.

I don't recall seeing the Carl's ads during Sesame street in the morning - I see them during sporting events, on stations like ESPN, and later into the evening - all times and channels geared toward the age group that the commercial is supposed to target - YOUNG MEN. On Sunday evening my mother, wife, mother in law, aunts and uncles were all at my house, and we caught the commercial during Sunday night football. It was HYSTERICAL. We replayed it 2-3 times laughing at the nod to "big butts" and trying to get the lyrics exactly right. Nobody was offended - we laughed, which was the intention, and identified the product with the ad, which was also the intention. I can't believe the posts I'm reading here - don't you people have a sense of humor? No wonder we cant get anything done as a country - we have to worry about a bunch of tightwads offended by everything they can get their hands on. I wasn't offended by the Trojan commercial that portrayed men as pigs - I saw the humor in it, and appreciated the creative mind that came up with it. The same goes for Carls Jr. I'll make sure to stop by there soon to pay my respects to their ingenious sense of humor by grabbing a burger from them. Educators are offended? PLEASE!?!?!

It's meant to be a joke, a parody akin to Simpsons or Family Guy, which is most likely the extended version showed various clips of Family Guy in there. It isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's making fun of the "booty-shaking" rap culture in a humorous way to advertise a burger. And those of you mocking the sexuality of this commercial are hypocritical. I don't have the tendency to make decisions of where or what I eat based on whether I like the commercials. I don't really find the Carl's Jr ad offensive but just stupid. I find the Wendy's commercials just as stupid, though. In spite of this, I happen to like some food items from each chain. The one thing I find intelligent about Carl's Jr ads is the fact that the stupid part gets your attention (like a car wreck), then the main selling point is that they show the advertised food item large, nearly full screen. If an ad spot is going to get me to try their food, guess what? Seeing the food is what will get me. People kicking trees and screaming a catch phrase? Not so much.

The Ad may not be intended for many readers on here. I personally don't like the Ad, but recognize that Carls Jr. is not trying to promote to women. I am a teacher who did not find this advertisement in the least offensive. I thought it was funny and it sticks in your head. I think society takes things much to literally and forget that the best thing ya can give a kid is the ability to laugh at the world. For the parents who don't want their children seeing these types of commercials: why are your kids watching so much TV??? Jeez... Our TV was hardly ever on when I was growing up because we were outside playing with friends or in the house using our minds creatively (Legos were such a blast!). Sadly, this is something that our overweight youth just aren't doing anymore.

While I do find the commercials amusing, I don't usually eat at places like Carl's Jr. because of how unhealthy the food is (compared to a home cooked meal), but don't get me wrong - when I'm hungry and in a hurry, I'll get a burger from a fast food joint, regardless of their commercials! Lighten up people, and learn to laugh a little.

I don't subscribe to cable, and so I haven't seen the ads, but I was out to lunch the other day with a few people, and they all said that this recent ad campaign of Carl's Jr's has made they vow to avaid the chain. This group also included my mother, who used to be a weekly customer, if not more often than that. What a shame that they cannot come up with advertising that bring in new customers without offending the ones they already have. I also agree with the comment made regarding a male teacher: would the ad have been acceptable with a male teacher and female students? Not on your life!

I don't think that not liking the Carls Jr. Commercial indicates a lack of sense of humor. My husband and I have seen it several times. Each time we thought it was both entertaining and appalling. The advertisers really got the attention of the American Public with that one, and got people talking about Carls Jr. What we found appalling was that it was a classroom in a school setting and a commercial targeted at young people. There are enough problems in schools today with appropriate behavior being a big issue - this commercial not only condones that issue but promotes it - NOT a good example for its target audience. We think advertisers should be responsible for the impact of their ads on the public. We DO love the Wendy's commercials, they are silly, funny, and get your attention! OMG! This is one of the best commercials I've seen in quite a while... Obviously most of the people responding to this article (and additionally the writer) haven't clued in on the creativity.
If you grew up in the late 80's through today you can clearly see the great take on any particular Beastie Boy's video. On top of that the lyrics for the song were more thought out than normal for most commercials ("In anatomy class, you got a butt-minus!") and the nod to the old Van Halen video "Hot for Teacher" is there too!
People need to get some humor back in their lives!!! My goodness... Frankly Carls Jr. and Jack in the Box are the clear winners in commercial creativity and that is why they are doing so well compared to their increasingly weaker competition.

Apparently Carl's Jr has tweaked this ad and there isn't a teacher in it to be found. It's only two guys rapping and rushing at the camera.

The voice over on all the commercials by Carl's Jr. is horrible and sounds mildly stoned or drunk. Plus all their food shows drippings and stuff falling out the sides of the burgers and people licking their fingers. Who told Carl's that licking your fingers because your food is prepared quickly and without care is a sign that people are enjoying it?

Pretty dumb commercials. But maybe it's just me because I'm a guy and can cook for myself and prefer not to pull a dirty pot out of the sink to make breakfast. Many of the people in the ads come across as slobs and unclean.

I am sooooooo ssick of everything 'HAVING' to be family oriented.

The kids see more 'adult' information than ANY commercial. Where do they see this? SCHOOL! Text messaging!

There are way too many 'moral' police (AKA right wing consumers) running things.

I don't care what the commercials are (with the exception of the gay snickers commercial which made me vomit). If I want something to eat that they offer, I will go buy it. 'Family' oriented notwithstanding.

Perhaps all those 'Families' should just stay home instead of forcing their puritan views on everybody else and ruining everything for everybody else.

I used to sit in the smoking section because 'families' didn't sit there and I wouldn't be bothered by their undisciplined and unruly kids.
Now with smoking bans in place, there are no adult sections and I am inundated with all those selfish annoying families when I go out to eat.
