We’re guessing a new commercial for Chevrolet’s Traverse crossover vehicle is meant to appeal to a woman who fantasizes about having the "perfect guy" – he’s hot, he’s romantic and he does the housework!
Frankly, that kind of reverse gender stereotyping

Chevy shows some skin

Topless women ironing and scrubbing the toilet while a woman sings, "She's useful, she's beautiful, she's everything you ever wished for, and then some."

Chevy shows some skin

for YEARS ads have had scantily clad women in ads that had nothing to do whatsoever with the product .... now why, all of a sudden, is this ad "Instead, it’s tacky, nonsensical and weirdly evocative of pornography. (not that a man would iron a girl’s dress, but be doing so half-dressed while making dinner reservations for their 6 month anniversary – of what? eek!) The toilet scrubbing was just over the top, i couldn’t figure how that fit into the anniversary plans, and didn’t want to think too much about that.

i was so weirded out by the overly sensitive actions that i didn’t even realize it was for a car, much less which type or brand of car. Yes, I am sure they are looking for unique ways to sell vehicles that are not the most economical on gas. But having owned several vehicles - some foreign, some domestic, some economical, some not as much like the Dodge 4x4 Quad cab which I bought because it had a Hemi! The Dodge commercials at the time showed hot chicks after anyone driving a Hemi, but I had a lot of guys looking at me when I drove my truck. Not that I cared as I bought it for the power, the seating room and climbing over snow banks in Saskatchewan! So, you never know what messages behind an ad will appeal to a customer. I certainly would have a look at the Traverse - just because of this advertisement, however, I would expect it to deliver something extra that know one else does, since that is the key message I hear.

Chevy shows some skin

Somehow the end product does not equate the rest of the commercial... We gals like looking at the hunky shirtless guy. But I can think of a lot of better things for my manny to do than be on his knees, scrubbing a toilet. For starters, I'd have taught him that we don't grovel on the floor when toilet cleaning, we bend over the porcelain pot. The guys who made this ad obviously don't know anything.
But -- the offensive part is what it says about what the frat boys think of women -- not just that they don't know how to clean a toilet, having never done it themselves (hired a maid in college? a topless one?), but that they think we gals are that perverted. Talk about advertising "We don't understand our audience and don't care enough to find out, but we think you're all sadistic bitches." That's the offensive part.

Chevy shows some skin

The guy's not ironing her dress --- it's his own dress --- that's why the ads for a crossover.

Chevy shows some skin

Whoever wrote this bad review needs to lighten up and join the rest of us in the 2000's.

Chevy shows some skin

Have any of you ever looked at a car or motorcycle magazine? The draw back may be that I did not look at the car or even consider it as a reality, But this could be beneficial for CHEVY (GM) as i did hear the make.

Chevy shows some skin

Absolutely nothing offensive in that ad. And the dress is big enough for a lot of young adult women who would be on this straight man's radar.

Chevy shows some skin

Has no one ever seen all the videos on YouTube aimed at women and making a joke out of studly young guys coming over to do their housework? It's supposed to be funny......the guys aren't there for "the usual" reason, they're being valued for doing the housework! This ad plays on that (which is already popular on the Internet). Also, I really looked closely at the dress that everyone is so freaked out about. It's my opinion that the dress is a woman's dress, with a strapless empire top and a knee-length skirt. Look at it again, folks--the skirt is way too long to be a child's dress. So, once again, it's about every woman's supposed dream--the guy is perfect, he irons for her, he does the housework, he remembers their anniversary. Yep, the ad is basically the same thing for a car as all the ads featuring beautiful women are for beer.

Chevy shows some skin

I had just assumed the shirtless guy was another sly gay ad, like the guy who's surprised to find the BK king in his bed in the morning, and the same-sex couples in the McDonald's designer coffee ads who dress gay and have have a verbal shorthand showing they spend a lot of time together. Isn't the guy ironing his own shirt preparing for a date with his boyfriend?

Chevy shows some skin

After seeing the ad, I'm ready to trade in my almost new Honda Pilot. Well, the other reason is that my Honda is having its second transmission installed in it after 12,000 miles. Maybe Honda can put a naked mechanic in its ads. My Pilot spends more time with him than with me. Dumb purchase by me

Chevy shows some skin

Absolutely pointless, bizarre, useless, ridiculous. What's the connection? What a waste of time. Pretty guy, yes, but first of all he's gay. Why does he have to scrub the toilet? Why does he have to be shown ironing his "girlfriend's" clothes? "Six months"? Yeah, that's an indication of how long things are going to last. Absolutely the worst "ad" I've seen in eons. It should be pulled immediately.

Chevy shows some skin

Something I noticed also was the fact that he's not wearing a wedding ring. The deal about the dress being a kid's dress, I don't get. I looks like a small woman's dress to me. I half-way thought it could have been his if was bigger. The whole Crossover theme and all. Oh well.
