Domino's man-eater

We’ve spoken before about our appreciation of Domino’s. Yes, it’s mostly tasteless chain pizza, but when you’re in the middle of nowhere, it can be the best option (though that says more about said place than Domino’s).

So no, it’s not the best pizza ever (that would be here, order the thin crust – sorry New Yorkers). But it is serviceable food. And at a certain (young) point in your life, it makes monetary sense.

But even in our cheapest, youngest days (college) we were never this hungry.

Domino's

The thing that first caught our attention is the fact that it’s not evidently for an American audience. It’s for the Netherlands. Which is really weird: There are Domino’s in the Netherlands. You can find proof here – they literally cover the country from Allkmaar to Zwolle. And no, we don’t want to know what’s on that fish pizza. Seriously.

(At this point we’ll pause and not bemoan the fact that for some reason the only things we can seem to export to the rest of the world are the coarser, less-refined aspects of our country. Ok. All better now.)

In the spot a young man … how can we say this … regurgitates a Domino’s delivery guy. Evidently he was pretty hungry. The delivery guy seems pretty miffed about it too. The best part – delivery guy still had his scooter helmet on.

We’re also kind of partial to their tagline they use in the Netherlands: “Man hungry. Ding-dong. Pizza!” Would make sense to use it in the U.S. too. After all, isn’t that really their target market?

SAD ENOUGH THE PIZZA TASTES BAD AS IT IS--NOW THEY ADD THE SOUR TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH OF CHARGING YOU A 1.50 DELIVERY FEE!  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!  NICE TRY DOMINOS--I BELIEVE YOU ENDED PIZZA DELIVERY BEFORE DIGORNO'S
First of all, ALL PIZZA PLACES CHARGE A DELIVERY FEE!!! That has always happened!! They are offering a service that you should pay for, stop trying to be cheap and get everything for free.
what backward hell hole do you live in, charge for delivery! hahaha ya right...
ummm
Fat Man's (local) doesn't charge a delivery fee.  Pizza Inn didn't charge a delivery fee (we had one here for about a year - now it's a Sonic).

When I was in college NONE of the local pizzerias (chain or mom&pop) charged delivery fees.  We did TIP the delivery guy - but usually less than we would have tipped a waitress, since he made ONE trip to our house instead of 4 trips back and forth to the table to refill our tea.
Jessica:  No, sweetheart, they haven't always charged a fee.  The point of pizza delivery was not having to go get it.  It was part of the product, the reason you chose them instead of someone else.  Perhaps you don't remember a time when to get a pizza one had to go down to the store, order it, wait for it, then go back home.  The delivery was a selling point, now it's so ubiquitous that it has become a "service".
  I like turtles !
